I've just read my ARC of "Love, Clancy," & I'd like to know where you got your ideas for the quirky cast of human characters. Are they "somewhat like" real people you know/knew, amalgamations of traits you've seen in others, or totally made up by your imagination? And what in your life fueled the idea to juxtapose the development of human & canine packs in a story?

Hi Kelly. Well, no. Meaning, I don't base my characters on real people, because then I'd get caught thinking, "well yeah, but my Uncle Donald wouldn't actually do that." And I'm a dog book guy by profession who keeps trying to sneak in humans! So Love, Clancy was a great opportunity for that!

I just finished A Dog's Journey and wanted to tell you how much I absolutely adored both of these books. I am anxiously awaiting A Dog's Way Home. And I'm having my husband read Purpose/Journey in the meantime. Big fans, here! Thank you for the smiles and tears... all worthwhile while imagining my dogs in heaven waiting for me after having had fulfilled their purpose for my life! Did you intend to make people cry so??

Hello! Now, are some of your Dog's Purpose Puppy Tales actually in the adult books, or are some of them like made up? What I'm trying to ask, is if all the Puppy Tales come out of the adult books. Like, I know Bailey and Ellie do, but what about Lilly and the others?
