It's not like Fleming got reconstructive surgery. He put on weight, changed his hair color, grew a beard, and put in contacts. Would that fool someone just passing by... almost certainly. But Gamache and his wife seemed to have a close relationship with the minister and his wife. I mean... they had lunch together. Gamache had arrested him. Gamache had seen him just a few years prior. When the lack of recognition is explained away because Fleming had shown love and care to his wife and that's what blinded Gamache... well... a puke emoji is very appropriate here. I think this is Penny just trying to be a bit clever. There is no reason why there is any confusion about his identity.(less)
