I think he wanted to make conscience about how kids are not naturally polluted by prejudice, vanity, greed, and other sins like most adults are. He wants us to remember and bring back that piece of being into our lives. To question what surrounds us and find the true meaning of what we do on Earth. I think the main idea is that things are what we want them to be.(less)
