Goodreads asked J.R. James:

How do you get inspired to write?

J.R. James I initially got inspired when I thought about entering a competition to write 2,000 words that would form the basis for a spicy novel. I started and just carried on. Knowing that it was possible to publish independently spurred me on to continue... and that was it. I was hooked. It's enjoyable, but it's also really hard work. Once the words are down on paper it then requires a lot of editing and re-writing and proof-reading to produce something that (I hope) others will enjoy reading, and that's written to a sufficiently high, error-free standard, which I believe the reader deserves for the time that they will invest in reading it.
I continue to be inspired to write by the positive feedback that I've received.
