How long does it take to write a book verse how long it takes to be released?

That varies widely from author to author. For me, it takes somewhere between six months and a year to get a manuscript in shape for my editor to read, and I'm a pretty fast writer. Once my editor gets the manuscript, it takes approximately another year before the book can be released. The publisher needs that much time to edit the text (several times), design a cover, market the book to booksellers and librarians, do the actual printing and then distribute the books.

I really admire your books and Disney series. I hope season 2 is being worked on! My question is just out of curiosity and I am not trying to be rude. I noticed in the Disney credits, there must be 10+ producers including you and your wife. How does anything get done with so many cooks in the kitchen?

Hey! I loved the first season of Percy Jackson as a huge fan of the books I had high hopes but it exceeded my expectations and the casting was phenomenal! I was wondering do you have a "wish list" so to speak of actors/actresses you'd like to cast in later seasons of the show? What's your process when selecting cast members?
