I can think of interview that I have read with some authors in which they indicated a particular character was based partially(either physically or personality traits) of people that they knew. Have you ever done this?

I've done this occasionally, but only for supporting characters. In NATIVE GOLD, I based Swede and the four Campbell boys on my husband's kin, and in PASSION'S EXILE, the four lovesick lads were my daughter's high school friends.
