Did anyone listening to the audiobook notice some mispronunciations? I heard maybe 10, and I just can’t believe I’ve been saying/hearing so many words incorrectly my whole life. It’s really bugging me (and I’m not counting the pronunciation of “been” as “bean,” which I’m considering an annoying affectation rather than a mispronunciation).

Yes. As Lisa said, Jack LaLanne's name was pronounced la-lane with a long a. All the reader would have needed to do is put his name into a youtube search. The reader was sloppy with that and several other pronunciations

Yes! Big one for me is “HOE-vering”. Did not realize she was British.
In the audiobook I’m listening to on Libby, every mention of Jack LaLanne has been cut and spliced to replace the incorrect pronunciation.

It started with the mispronunciation of au gratin potatoes as “o - gra - TAIN”” and who doesn’t know Jack LaLanne is “La-LANE” not “la-LANN” 🙄 There are so many people involved in the publication of an audio book, someone should have caught these. Do better Penguin Random House.

Like Jack La Lane. Or as she said Laaaanne

Yes and library she pronounced without the first r.

I just finished listening to the audiobook, which I loved overall. I too noted multiple mispronunciations, but this is really a QC error and not on the narrator. I'm also an audiobook narrator and it's crazy how many words we get wrong, even at the best of times. This is why QC exists and I was a little surprised at the number of mistakes that made it through.

Ugh, yes! What really irked me was when she pronounced the daughter’s name Made-LINE and not Made-LYN.

The narrator is British, isn't she? I thought it was an odd choice for a book set in California.
