Richard Hough I've just finished reading The Dig. Though it's based on real people and events, it's a fictionalised account of the 1938 Sutton Hoo archaeological dig. I'd love to have been involved in the dig, getting my hands dirty but also getting to know the fascinating cast of characters involved, while the oncoming war looms large in the background.
