Come to think of it, I've read a LOT of books throughout my lifetime. "The Enchanted Life of Adam Hope" is one of the best books I've ever read. Part of the appeal for me is that the North Carolina setting is right where my Mother grew up, so it was easy for made to picture the farm and the characters in my mind. Rhonda Riley did a fantastic job, creating characters I felt I knew. While I was reading the book--and ever since, I'd find myself wondering how they all are! Or I'll think about one character or another, and wonder now that person will solve his/her latest concern.

One thing I think potential readers should know is that the story synopsis is a bit misleading. While it's true that Evelyn DOES fall in love with the "person" she rescues, that person doesn't start as Adam in the beginning.

I don't want to spoil any of the intrigue of this magical stoy, so that's all I'll say here. Part of its beauty is in showing love for someone, no matter how old they are, how they look or change over time. In that way, the story reminds me of "A Prelude to a Kiss."

I agree with another reviewer, who said she's glad the author never revealed A's EXACT origin or backstory. As I read the book, I kept hoping our main character would be explained. But as their setting moved to Florida and years went by, I began to realize that it really didn't matter. Evelyn and Adam's love story was truly just about the time they were together...not really before, and only after in the legacy they created for future generations. This is truly an enchanting book, and I look forward to discovering different nuances, every time. I re-read it!(less)
