A Goodreads user asked Jerry B. Jenkins:

A group of Left Behind dramatic audio fans have something of a dislike for Chloe lately. She's just seems so INSISTENT on having her way. Regardless of how it affected others. Did you design her that way or, did the character just 'take over' as it's known to happen with the mysterious author/ character dynamic?

Jerry B. Jenkins A little of both, Johanna. I am a Pantser (writing by the seat of my pants--trying to put interesting characters in difficult situations and writing to find out what happens), so yes, I write as a process of discovery. That said, I know that when characters in essence take over, that's really me--my own subconscious--acting out. :) While I too was at times surprised and disappointed with Chloe, I'm trying to portray her as human and real. And conflict is the engine of fiction. But be patient with her. She does have a character arc.
