Erin There are probably more similarities here than can be gleaned from her biography on the back leaflet. For example, Oliver really is working on a Neo Eocene project (photos of Ruth in the project here: http://www.oliverk.org/art-projects/l...)
Sherri Robinson The woman living on an island in Canada is based on the life of the writer. She is half Japanese and her husband is a German Canadian named Oliver. Ruth studied in Japan as a Canadian so the character's difficulties of being someone that looks Japanese but isn't Japanese is based on real life experiences.
Mimi V Ruth Ozeki is a Soto Zen Buddhist, so drew on her experiences of Zen (as well as some sources)
