Sara asked this question about The Keep (Adversary Cycle, #1):
Does anyone have The Keep Book Club Questions?
Sara 1) Who is behind the characters of Molasar and Glenn and why are they fighting against each other since the beginning of the world?
2) What connection…more
1) Who is behind the characters of Molasar and Glenn and why are they fighting against each other since the beginning of the world?
2) What connection is to Dracula/Vlad Tepes?
3) Why are there 16,807 crosses inbedded in the rock of the Keep they are occupying? Why is this Keep even here? What purpose did it serve when it was built? When a fortified structure is too small to be considered a castle, it is called a keep.
4) Why are there no birds in the Keep?
5) Does this book live up to expectation?
6) Who does the reader root for? The Germans and the SS soldiers that join them? Or the entity that seems hell bent on destroying them?
7) Is the villain really the "proto-vampire"? Is the hero maybe as bad as the villain?
8) The most disturbing points of view? The most intriguing point of view?
9) Why do "genre novels" (mystery, horror, fantasy, etc.) have to fall back on cliches? Do the fans really get satisfaction from a sudden steamy sex scene with the undead?
10) The basic conflict of the plot is whether or not to side with the supernatural power that seems to be willing to work against the Nazis. Thus, what is worse? The manmade evil of the Nazis or a supernatural evil? Can you ever use a supernatural evil for good?
11) The complications are the interactions between the Iron Guard of Germany, the newly created SS Nazi troops, the Jewish couple, and the uncovered evil. Is there a way to stop the Jewish death camps? Is there a way to stop Hitler? Can this uncovered evil, be twisted to do good?
12) If she's been such a sheltered scholar, how is she all of a sudden scaling the steep side of a gorge?
