asked:
Did anyone think this was kind of similar to Behind Closed Doors? I literally just read that one before this one!

So glad I found this thread! I was going crazy thinking I’d read the housemaid before and I was trying to Google similar books, couldn’t find what I was looking for but this is exactly it!
Jenny Ng
behind closed door is so so much better! the housemaid is a bit flat comparatively. i like both books but for different reasons.

Yes, this book reminded me of multiple other books (this one and "the last mrs. parrish)!! there is also character called Millie in both!
Angel
Yes. Especially the second half of the book. I almost predicted the entire plot after that.
Britney Cabrera
I agree and it's funny because I did the same thing. I finished behind closed doors then my book club chose the housemaid. So similar!!
Rita Queirós
oh yes, I loved both books!
Kelly Richardson
I thought that too. Especially the second half. I read BCD a long time ago, and I have just finished The Housemaid. I loved them both.

I did enjoy Behind Closed Doors and thought of it at one point while reading. Yes, they do have some similarities but I think they are both different.
Jackie
Yes, which book was published first?
Ashlee
YES! I literally just wrote this in my review. VERY similar. Luckily for me, I did not predict the twist early on.
Ale Rodriguez
As soon as I started to read the housemaid I was 100% sure that there was another book that I have read that was almost the same. I’m glad I’m not the only one who went almost crazy trying to remember the other book.

For me, first it similar to The turn of the key by Ruth Ware a d then it's similar to Behind the closed door. It kind of a mix of both and maybe some other books that I didn't read yet 🤷♀️

Yes!! Finally, someone said it!! I was wondering the same thing when I started reading the second part of the book. Truthfully speaking, Behind Closed Doors wasn't to my liking... It didn't have any major plot twist and the entire plot was quite vapid but I enjoyed reading The Housemaid. Millie's POV was quite fun to read and the plot twist was unpredictable as well.
