Azu asked Josh Lanyon:

Good evening. Josh. I didn't get a chance to write it down, so I have another question. I got the feeling that the characters in your work, Sam, Jake and Tucker, are so macho that they look intimidating, but in reality they are hiding their sensitive, calm and gentle nature by working out. Is liberation from toxic masculinity another theme?

Josh Lanyon Perhaps an unconscious theme? But in reality these three men work in professions where you have to build some kind of emotional distance, emotional detachment, too be able to do the work at all. And while it's true they have their gentle, sensitive sides, they are also capable of violence and ruthlessness. It's probably one reason they're attracted to the jobs they are attracted too. The jobs suit their natures.
