You self-published The Martian. I am the author of two self-published books myself. How did you go about promoting the book that it became so well-known and popular?

Andy Weir I didn't promote it at all. It got around by word-of-mouth. Though one thing that certainly helped was my core readership of about 3000 people. I'd accumulated those readers slowly over 10 years of making content. Short stories, webcomics, etc. So I think having that initial critical mass helped spread the word.
