I just want to say how much I adore your Apollo & Hyacinth. Your way of telling their love story is one of the best retellings about GM I have ever, ever read. I am currently in awe of how well you blend different myths and Gods within the story. So, with that said - what made you fall in love with GM? And why Apollo & Hyacinth?

Hi! Thanks so much for the question and I’m so glad you’re enjoying the Apollo series!
I actually love worldwide mythology. I grew up enchanted with folklore and myths from different parts of the world. My great grandfather was a seanchaí so I’ll argue I’m walking in his footsteps. In college I was a credit short of minoring in Asian studies which was all mythology and folklore classes.
Of course for the western world, Greek mythology has heavily influenced so much of our stories and culture. For example, Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet is based on Pyramus & Thisbe. Greek mythology has had us all enthralled for thousands of years but I love taking a fresh look at the myths and blending them together.
As to why Hyacinth and Apollo, I was flipping through a book of Greek myths a few years ago and came across a painting of Apollo absolutely shattered as he held the dead Prince Hyacinth in his arms. The emotions in it moved me so much, I knew I had to try and use words to capture it.
I hope that answers your questions and thank you again! :)
