From the author: "Valyn [is older], by one year. It's a really common mistake. Kaden is heir to the throne for his eyes, not his age."
Mehtaj
From The Providence of Fire - Chapter 9
"She was eight years old at the time, which meant that Kaden was five and Valyn even younger...."

If Valyn was 10 and Kaden was nine when they both started their training paths, and both have been training for eight years, then Valyn's older at age 18. Kaden is listed as being seventeen when he inherits the throne.

"'There’s nothing to know!' Adare had complained. She was eight years old at the time, which meant Kaden was five and Valyn even younger. 'They’re babies. They play like babies and they cry like babies.'"

Valyn is older. They met at the Bone mountains and when they did Kaden was 17. It also said in Kadens point of view that Valyn looked older than 18. So that means Kaden is younger than Valyn
Alireza
Yep. As Mehtaj pointed out Kaden is the eldest Son we know of.
Kam Imam
Oh wow, I had no idea. Always assumed Kaden was the eldest.

Kaden is older, right? I thought Valyn mentions once, that Kaden - as the older brother - will inherit the throne... would make a lot more sense too.
