How does the Netflix show compare to the books? If I liked the Six of Crows Duology, but not the original trilogy, would I like the Netflix show?

In the show everything is mixed together and the main plot is for the crows to steal Alina. One of my friends didnt really enjoy the original trilogy but really enjoyed the show.
