Pamela Bronson
asked:
I just read that this book is banned at George Dawson Middle School (named for the author) in Southlake, Texas. Is there actually any material in this book that would be very inappropriate for middle schoolers, or are they reacting to unwelcome truths about racism?

I taught middle school for 40 years and I can assure you there is nothing in this book that inappropriate for that age group. I strongly suspect the objection is in fact based on the "unwelcome truths about racism".
