Sydney | sydneys.books asked Huntley Fitzpatrick:

Hello Huntley. I read MLND and found it to be just like my fantasies. I have always wanted a boy to climb up on my roof and fall in love with me ;) Why did you write their first meeting to be like this? Has this ever happened to you? And lastly, why did you choose the name Jase? It is one of my favorite names and I was pleasantly surprised when that was hi name. Thanks!

Huntley Fitzpatrick Hi Sydney,

Thank you so much for your questions. I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed MLND. I'll start with the last one. Believe it or not, I thought I invented the name Jase. I was looking for a nickname for his real name, Jason, and came up with that. I was shocked when I saw it elsewhere, subsequently. Hadn't read Cassandra Clare, or anyone else (I love her now). So there you go.

As for their first meeting, I was, like Samantha, a watcher and was fascinated by big families growing up. It seemed to me that their first meeting had to come from her habit of watching, but also that she'd be too reserved to make the first move, and that Jase would finally just go for it.

As for your last question, I've fallen in true love twice in my life, and both times it was almost at first meeting. So no, it hasn't happened just like that. But just as magically and out of the blue.

Thank you again for your kind note,

Warmly,

Huntley
