Is there any intent upon making this great book into a movie?

Andy Weir The film version is being filmed right now. It stars Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Michael Pena, Sebastian Stan, Kate Mara, Aksel Henne, Sean Bean, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jeff Daniels, Donald Glover, Kristin Wiig, and Mackenzie Davis.

It's being directed by Ridley Scott and it comes out on Nov 25, 2015.

I love this book and have read it 3 times so far. Have you always been interested in space travel or was this just a hook to hang a story about survival, humanity and sad seventies culture on ( excluding dukes of hazard which isn't that bad and did give us Daisy Dukes)?
