I have been a huge fan since my teen years when you first started writing. What is your favorite Penman work?

Thank you so much, Tanya. I am never sure if a writer should admit to having a favorite book; it seems a bit like a mother confessing that she loves little Johnny more than Suzie. But here I go anyway. My own favorite of my books is Here be Dragons. After spending 12 years on Sunne, it was so nice to have characters alive at the end of the book! And Dragons was the book that began my love affair with Wales, which is still going strong thirty years later.

I love "The Sunne in Splendour". If you wrote it today, would you incorporate some of the new info that has surfaced in the last 30 years; e.g. would the negotiations for the double marriage of Richard to Joana of Portugal and his niece (presumably Bess) to Manuel of Beja affect your portrayal of the relationship between Bess and Richard; and how would the marriage to Ralph Scrope fit in the story of Cecily of York?
