How did you get your publishing deal with Harper Teen? Did you get an agent, and if so, how did you get them?

Kendare Blake I did get an agent, and I got her the old fashioned way: by querying until my soul withered and hoping someone would pull me out of the slush pile. It took a long time and lots of failed manuscripts, but then I wrote Anna Dressed in Blood and poof! Right project, right time.

Well, it wasn’t exactly poof. There were some steps and progress in between.

By the time I got my publishing deal with Harper Teen for Three Dark Crowns I had 5 books out so I was able to sell the idea off of a proposal and sample chapters. I thought that was so wild at the time, like, what you’re just going to trust me? Don’t you know that I lie like a liar?!

I have to say that Antigoddess is one of my favorite books! I'm a huge fan of mythology, so I would like to know where you came up with the idea for that? It is a bit of a horror book in a way given the gods are dying and can't really save themselves. (I hope I just didn't give anything away) Also, what are you going to be for Halloween? I'm thinking about being Rosie the Riveter.
