Hi Colleen, I wanted to write something based upon factual events so spent a long time searching for a "murderer" whose story could be moulded into an interesting tale. I found Mary Channing and not only was her story interesting, there seemed to be more to her conviction than met the eye. The book does very closely follow the known facts of the case, and I'll leave the reader to decide her guilt!
