Ellen asked Laila Woozeer:

What was the hardest part of 'Not Quite White' to write about?

Laila Woozeer Hi! Thanks for your question! There were two parts that I found hard, the section at the end of Chapter 3 (leaving Wales) I found difficult when I first wrote it. I tend to have good recall but I had blocked a lot from memory so it required a lot of digging around in old diaries.

The other part which I think was the hardest part of the whole book, was the section in Chapter 7 about Self and Other. I must have rewritten that part over 100 times trying to strike a balance between too academic and clinical, too wordy and confusing, and too simplistic and losing the essence.
