You don't have to, but if you haven't read the whole series, why not do so? If you like the books, you have a lot to look forward to. And, I think you'll enjoy «Rachel, Again» alot more if you do so. For me, this book was great, and an added bonus was that it felt like a jolly little reunion with some of my favorite characters

No, though it's probably worth reading at least Rachel's Holiday (the book specifically about Rachel) first as parts of this will have more impact if you have. But it does fill you in on enough backstory to know what's going on.
