It's been a while since I read Talisman but at no point during my reading of my ARC of Fairy Tale, did I have any recollection of it being similar.

No its not. Nor is it a reworking of Eyes Of The Dragon.

Similar maybe...but not exactly like The Talisman. But I wouldn't call it a re-working. The city in Fairy Tale, Lilimar, is very similar to the decaying Lud from the Darktower series. But then again, I find,,usually all of King's otherworlds are connected in some way, hence the familiar-ness of them.

I'm about 70% of the way through and yes, the "fantasy" part does remind me of a less interesting Talisman place.

It did remind me a little of the Talisman (which I also loved), but this story was different, and good on its own.
