Hi. I greatly enjoyed the audiobook of “The Case of the Canterfell Codicil”, particularly as Tim Bruce brought the book to life - what a great choice for narrator! However, I was in a state of confusion for the first couple of chapters as to its historical setting. After checking the ebook, I found this was because the book gives the date for the postmark as 1928 whereas the audiobook gives it as 1828?

Well, that can’t be. I’ve just now checked and… gah! How can absolutely everybody have missed that?
Above all, thank you very much for the opportunity to set the record straight — this is indeed a reading error and the story takes place in 1928 — the major fought in the second Boer War, Anty’s father ended his days in a disagreement with an electric tram, the prime minister was that nice Mister Baldwin (I actually had to skim my own book for these examples — it’s amazing how much of this could indeed have taken place one hundred years prior).
I’ll pass this along to the publisher straight away, but I have no idea what’s involved in making a correction to an audiobook. At the very least, those who see your question and kind comments will know the truth.
I really appreciate this revelation David, painful as it is. Even if this can’t be corrected I’ll at least ask to be included in the editorial process in future.
