Hi Andy, I listened to your book, wonderfully read by R C Bray, and it reminded me of the Apollo 13 mission. I really liked the fact that all the science / maths was real too. I've been interested in space travel since the moon missions. I'm now 50. Do you think we’ll actually have a manned mission to Mars in my lifetime? And, will the first mission be a one-way journey? Andy Weir I wouldn't expect a Mars mission before 2040. 2050's is more likely. I won't speculate on your lifespan. :)

I love this book and have read it 3 times so far. Have you always been interested in space travel or was this just a hook to hang a story about survival, humanity and sad seventies culture on ( excluding dukes of hazard which isn't that bad and did give us Daisy Dukes)?

I loved the book. Really. My question is were you worried that the book would be a bit "too much" in terms of technical detail and such for the average person? I like that it isn't just log entries and there's a narrative because it breaks things up somewhat, but was the narrative added later to break things up? Or was it always part of the plan to have more characters and another POV?
