Do Isaac and Lord Ashcombe know each other? At the end of book one, they show up to the Apothecaries Hall together, and book two mentions them exchanging letters. Is this a passing acquaintance, or have they known each other for quite some time? If so, how do they know each other and will we see more of them in the future?

(view spoiler)[Isaac and Lord Ashcombe meet (off the page) in book 1, while Christopher is being held at the Tower. Tom tells Isaac what's happened, and when Isaac learns of how the Apothecaries' Guild is planning to expel Christopher, he goes to the Tower to introduce himself to Ashcombe in the hopes that the King's Warden will help protect Christopher's future. As both Ashcombe and the king are pretty pleased with what Christopher's done, they gladly move to stop the Guild's plan.
Isaac and Lord Ashcombe are in contact again between books 1 and 2, when Isaac asks Ashcombe for help with acquiring that mysterious book, and they end up travelling back to London together. Then Isaac goes into his plague lockdown and doesn't come out until book 5. So I wouldn't say they know each other well enough at this point to be considered friends, but they're certainly friendly acquaintances.
And both of them will appear in book 6. As to whether anything happens to them in that book, you'll have to wait and see... (hide spoiler)]

I have been re-re-re-reading the blackthorn key series and have some theories about the identity of "the raven" the most backed-up of these being that the raven is Peter? Benedict's old apprentice. throughout the books it talks of peter's "descent into darkness" but goes no further, "the raven also calls Benedict "master" which would probably mean he was his apprentice, I don't really expect an answer btw.
