ems asked Penelope Douglas:

Hey, question! How do you get out of writer's block? Any writing tips you can give me?

Penelope Douglas When you find out, let me know! lol. It sucks, but it usually means one of two things: You're either bored or burnt out.

Whenever I have it, it's either because I don't love the story I'm writing, and I need to stop and change it until I do love it or abandon it altogether and write something I really want to write.

Or it's because I'm dreading releasing it. A lot of people really don't like my books, and it comes right out of the gate every time I release. It's not fun when you know it's coming every time you publish.

But again, if you really love what you write, it's ultimately worth it, because if nothing else you got to live in a world completely of your own design for a little while and hopefully you laughed and cried and loved right along with the characters. You got to have them all to yourself for a while and enjoy it unobstructed.

Concentrate on your setting first. Stage your story in a place that inspires you. Make a playlist and mood board. It helps build the world for you. If you don't like something, reflect until you know how to change it in a way that does interest you. I will tell you, my most successful books are the ones I had the most fun writing. Readers can tell. Don't waste your time on anything less than that. Good luck!
