Can anyone please explain what the “pomegranate” eyes are? I have loved everything I’ve read by Okorafor, but being a non techy person I didn’t understand all of the technology in this one.

I also thought of the ambrosia pomegranate and the connection to ancient Greek mythology that consuming ambrosia makes you an immortal god.(less)
