Dave Puckett
Dave Puckett asked Mark Lawrence:

Hi Mark, I just bought your "Impossible Times" trilogy starting with the "One Word Kill" I can hardly wait to start them. I already read the preview on the first one and love your style. Well, my question for you today is: I know you wrote short stories, (actually, it was you recommending "Quick" to me that introduced me to your writing) So do you think short stories prepared you to write Novels?

Mark Lawrence Hi Dave - always good to see the Impossible Times books getting a read.

Short stories definitely taught me (& many other authors) to write. It's harder to write a good short story than a book chapter of similar length.

One good thing about short fiction is that the writer can experiment and take risks without staking a whole novel's worth of effort into the exercise.
