A Goodreads user asked Laura Taylor Namey:

I finished 'The Library of Lost Things' a couple of months ago, and have I failed to find a YA book just as intriguing and wonderful. Your writing is absolutely amazing! I was wondering, as an author, do you try to make your stories and ideas more original, or try to deliver more on what readers want?

Laura Taylor Namey Thank you Kiara! With each book I try to say something about life and people and, often, coming of age in a new way that also hits on universal ideas or truths that many teens relate to. So, while I always want to be fresh and original, I also want my work to be relatable. Thank you for asking!
