You wrote my favorite book of last year, and then in an interview recommended my second favorite book of the year, Darryl by Jackie Ess. I was blown away by the humor and writing in both! What other books do you recommend?

I’m so thrilled that it was your favorite book of the year! I’m honored :) Recently, I enjoyed Rachel Cusk’s early novel The Country Life, which is quite funny. And one of my favorite books of the past few years is Ted Chiang’s short story collection Exhalation. They’re very different from each other but I think both have some kinship with ATOJ!
