Goodreads asked Viola Estrella:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Viola Estrella When I get writer's block, it typically means I've either typed myself into a corner or I've bored myself with the direction I'm going. What I do next is sit down and write a "What needs to happen" list, and I brainstorm possible scenarios. Usually by the end of the brainstorming session, I have a clearer picture of how to write the next few scenes. Another solution is meeting up with a friend and talking out the issues. Sometimes the story and my ideas become cluttered in my mind, and all I need is someone to remind me to focus.
