I've just read The Druid (via First Reads) and I reckon it was bonza. I was held in rapt attention from start-to-end. I'll read 'Your First Million Words' next as I languish in, "I think I'd like to be a fantasy writer but I'm too scared to try," limbo. Anyway, I was struck at how tasteful and 'right' feeling the names of people and places in the story are; how'd you do that? Is it a knack?

Glad you enjoyed The Druid! Like any craft, spending thousands of hours on something makes you better. Knack or not, it's just a lot of practice.

As someone who wants to try to read fantasy for the first time and not be overwhelm... could you recommend which of your book series should I attempt to read first? My 16 yr old was also considering reading your books also. Thanks in advance for answering my question. Oh... thanks for writing clean fantasy, it is greatly appreciated.
