Rhys asked Sebastien de Castell:

A few questions from a young (re)writer: How do you plan a book? Do you ever get writers block? If so, how do you overcome it? If not, how do you funnel ideas down to just one?

Sebastien de Castell Those are some huge questions, and I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to answer them coherently. My best advice is actually to avoid too many different sources of writing advice because everyone's answers will sound good and feel meaningful, but they'll also end up taking you in different directions. Instead, I'd suggest going to your local library or bookstore, find a single book on novel writing that looks good to you, and just follow the process detailed there – stick to it even when you don't think the book is turning out well. In the end, your first novel is like your first marathon: you're not trying to "win", you're trying to train yourself to be able to finish.

Good luck with your writing!
