Since the rest of the books haven't been translated yet (and is doesn't look like they will?), is it worth it to read Book #1? I've heard it's great, but are there any major cliff hangers, etc?

The books are not connected by plot, but rather by a general concept and overall mindset."
So although the other two books aren't translated, if you're interested in the book, I'd suggest reading it as a standalone. That being said, although the ending isn't a cliff-hanger, it is far from a clear-cut conclusion. It is more of an open ending that invites different interpretations. (less)
