Hmm... It's hard to say what an appropriate age rating would be for this book considering everyone has different preferences, but I found it to be a pretty mature read.
I read this book a few years ago when I was 13 and didn't really have a problem with it. Some things that might be triggering would be the severe mental illness of both characters, suicide, Self-harm and the serious effects of bipolar disorder. That being said, this book did an excellent job of portraying these topics realistically and appropriately, and well, it defiantly doesn't steer away from these controversial and challenging ideas, it doesn't make light of them or romanticize them in any way.
Mental illness aside, there is some swearing and sex in this novel, though in my opinion nothing a mature teenager can’t handle, as well as some minor violent scenes as well.
All in all, I think that 14+ would probably be a good age to read this novel. This is a fantastic book and I would 100% recommend this to mature readers.
*A website that I often use for age recommendations is Common Sense Media (https://www.commonsensemedia.org/book...). My reviews are under the name “Louloulemonpie”
Happy reading!
