Goodreads asked Lesa Howard:

How do you get inspired to write?

Lesa Howard I had a (undiagnosed) learning disability coupled with ADD as a child, and daydreaming was at the center of everything I did. I was, am, always in my own head. At best I was a mediocre student. If I excelled in one class I flunked another. Then in my sophomore year of high school, the class was given a short story writing assignment. I scored the highest in the entire 10th grade class! I was stunned. The teacher commented on my imagination, but I had always assumed everybody dreamed like that. The high score was a shock, but the greater surprise for me was to learn that not everyone had vivid imaginations like I did. I haven't stopped dreaming since.
