It does…moreYes this is totally appropriate for high schoolers. I am a high school English teacher and would add this to my AP Lit curriculum if possible. It does have a rape scene, but as others have commented, it is necessary to Circe's development as a character (and unfortunately, it also makes sense given how she is a woman alone, isolated on an island, with no one to help her or hear her). It also is a very short non-graphic scene, implications and innuendoes more than overt, and a blip in all else we learn and grow to respect and admire in this complex character.(less)
