Goodreads asked Susan Mansbridge:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Susan Mansbridge Firstly, don't compare yourself to other writers. You are unique. They may be successful, published and lauded, but your story is just as important.
Secondly, keep writing. Even if what you write never sees the light of day, it will release the ideas and thoughts. The next one could be something very special.
Finally, find your cheerleaders. Writing is a lonely task and you need people who will support and encourage you through the whole process. They don't have to be your beta readers. They may not even like your genre, but they will applaud your efforts and keep you motivated.
