Jim Davis
Jim Davis asked:

Is this a James Patterson book (whose books I absolutely enjoy), co-written by Dolly Parton, or is this a Dolly Parton book (whose music I absolutely love!), co-written by James Patterson? I see that the cover has Dolly's name up top. I think that was sort of rare for a JP novel...

That1 Creative Lady Dolly actually voices one of the main characters in the audiobook version. If you could, give it a listen!
Diane Ferbrache I'm not sure who wrote the actual text, but the voice sounds more Dolly than what I'm used to in a Patterson novel. Definitely more like "Suzanne's Diary" than "Alex Cross"
Kathy When books are co-authored the names of the writers are typically listed in alphabetical order hence Parton and then Patterson.
Katherine Barnette Pinillos From the live book launch event they did, James Patterson had the initial idea and Dolly provided the Nashville details then wrote an album of music to go along with it.
Marcia Burt You definitely hear Dolly's 'voice' in the writing of this novel, so you know she had her hand in it! ;)
Sk888888 I saw them interviewed by Trevor Noah - apparently it was a definite collaboration, though Dolly DID write all the song lyrics (lol). You can sort of 'tell' which parts were written by Patterson, and which were written by Dolly. The audiobook, read by Dolly, was well done!
Joan I believe the idea was hers and probably the basic plot line and all the details of what the Nashville music scene was like and Patterson did the actual text and development. And as already noted there is the music on Dolly's end also. I'm currently reading this and haven't gotten too far yet but it grabbed me right away like many of Patterson's thrillers would. So far so good.
Pat I read (and I don't remember where) that Patterson did the actual writing and Dolly worked with him on all the Nashville and music scenes.
Lisa The Nashville/music stuff is Parton's contribution. A lot of the other stuff is written by one of Patterson's less than capable ghosts.
Cora I'd say it's a Dolly Parton book co-written by James Patterson. It's very much about a girl wanting to be a country singer and the"thriller" part is more of a side story. I did enjoy it, though!
Cynthia Wheelehan She also has a new album coming out that works with the book plot - that sounds interesting....
