How did Cooper choose Aubrey as his first victim in the current time? Presumably he was not present on the wedding site tour so how would he have known the impact she would have on Chloe? And why does he choose to kill through Tyler instead of doing so directly? He clearly doesn't fear getting caught. None of this is explained and feels like pretty significant pieces of the narrative.

It made for a good plot, for some good twists, but does push the boundaries of realism. I wouldn't expect to see the same occur in a crime novel, where the author may have a deeper understanding of psychopathy. (less)
