David asked Garon Whited:

It’s a new year with new hope. And a new question - in book three, The Orb, there is that guy, Balaur, who turns into the bats and flies away - since Eric has gone back in time and is developing his super new spy scrying spells that let him peek in on universes without being noticed, is he going to watch Balaur fly away and find out where he went, who he was, and why he has that power?

Garon Whited You mean the guy in the barn? Why would Eric bother? Turning into a cloud of bats is a good trick, but probably one based on his species. If it was a spell, Eric would have noticed. I'm not saying Eric can't learn how to do it, but it might be similar to studying werewolves so to help him practice turning into a wolf. Why would he want to turn into anything? (Admittedly, that's Eric's attitude; the rest of us think it would be pretty cool!)
