First of all, I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on the book, it's been a long time since I've enjoyed a book so much. It seems to me that you have a lot of knowledge about planning and executing space exploration missions, so I'd like to know how much of your story is based on actual missions that NASA is planning for sending men to Mars?

Not much. The mission profile is based largely on Zubrin's "Mars Direct", with my own modifications to take advantage of more modern technology.

Hi Andy! I am from Russia and there is no official translation of your "Martian". I read it in 2013 in english, it wasn't so hard as i expect. I think this book is really great! Now I found not-official translation of "Martian". So my question is: why there is no official translation to russian? Who should to do the publication of the book in my country? СПАСИБО for the great book and sorry for my bad english :)
