I've written ten of them, so yes! I have non-fiction books on several subjects, some of which have done very well. My very first published book, in fact, was a book on finance.
In terms of fiction, I would like to at some point write a book outside the SF/F genre, but at the moment I'm happy within the genre, so it's not a priority. We'll see what happens.

Seeing as everything you write seems to be bounced around as a good idea for a movie or a good idea for a TV series, do you find this influencing your writing now? In other words, do you find yourself writing with adaptability-to-screen in mind or are you happy to leave that as someone else's problem?
