My understanding is that despite the media/journalistic exposures of the Magdalene laundries, opinion is divided and there are still a significant population who dismiss these revelations as myth and propaganda. I am sure in 1985, he would gave faced dire consequences for his actions but would public opinion be in his favor today in the region of the world where this is set?(less)
