My answer is Yes. I don't outline, so the full details of my story are never clear until I've written it, and my mind is always busy with one thought or another, so that something that didn't make sense before does as the scene unfolds. The same can happen if I'm just laying awake and thinking when I'm supposed to be sleeping; suddenly something will make sense and I have to get up and write it down.
